Taste Cheshire Food, Drink Festival

The Roving Apothecary is a small family business run by flavour enthusiast Rumble, selling his own artisan Spiced Honeys, quality herbs, spices and related products within a historical context and with a personal touch.

It started in 2013 taking over an existing historical Apothecary stall and quickly expanding the culinary range and experimenting with new ideas coming from a passion for plants and their many varied uses, history and great delight in challenging customer’s taste buds.

We heard the story so often… ‘That looks really interesting, but I haven’t got a clue what to do with it’, so in July 2016 we launched the Forgotten Flavours brand, a series of innovative modern ingredients aiming to help people add intense flavours of the past into their every day cooking. Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned chef these products can take you and your culinary delights as far as your imagination allows.
With these proving a resounding success, Rumble took the plunge in 2019 to concentrate on the business full-time and to get the word out there at Food Festivals and beyond. The Apothecary hasnt forgotten it roots though, and still stocks a wide range of luscious soaps, essential oils and of course herbs and spices!

You can find us at a wide range of country shows and food festivals with the Forgotten Flavours range and at historic events and re-enactments around the country with the full shebang including Herbs and Spices, Hand-blended Herbal Teas, Essential Oils and Handmade Soaps. In order to educate and amuse, all our labelling includes snippets of the history of plant and its uses over the ages.
