DARREN AND LIAM – MONDAY 30TH AUGUST 2PM
Darren is the owner and Chef at The Faulkner Pub, Bar and Restaurant in Hoole. He says he has been cooking for as long as he can remember. “I’m pretty much self-taught and I’ve been a chef in my own business for the last 10 years, which I have loved”
I love working with our Head Chef, Liam Edwards, together we have created something that we think is very special. We are both very proud of what we produce at The Faulkner.”
We asked Darren which chefs he most admires and he said “Any chef that does his own thing and puts his life into the business like local chefs Gary Usher, Kevin Lynn and Liam McKay but in terms of Chefs I take inspiration from it would be the likes of James Martin who I admire the most. I love his style, he has a genuine love for great food. I also like chefs such as Tom Kitchen, Tom Kerridge, Nathan Outlaw
The Faulkner produces classic British with a modern gastro style and has a menu that changes with the seasons as Darren attempts to find the best local produce available and do it justice in this award winning pub.
What do you cook at home? “A great steak with a proper tasty sauce or a good old fashioned roast. Slow cooked leg of Lamb being a favourite”
Darren supports Manchester United and Wales and his favourite tipple is Pinot Noir, or a pint of Cheshire Cat and coffee
